Accelerated Reader Info

Accelerated Reader is a program that monitors and increases students' reading levels. Students will begin by taking a placement test at the beginning of the year. They will then be able to choose a book to read based on what their reading level is. All books are approved by the teacher, so every AR book going home is readable by that student. Their AR log should be filled out daily, and initialed by a parent.

Every 3 or 2 weeks (depending on the quarter) students will take a test on the book they completed. AR is a percentage of their reading grade, so it is critical that students stay on top of their reading schedule, and pace themselves, so they can finish by the time it is test time.

AR Pacing:

1st Quarter: 1 book every 3 weeks
2nd, 3rd, 4th Quarters: 1 book every 2 weeks
